NCSI announces changes in management!


Following the retirement of Executive Director Phil Millhollon, the National Council of Self Insurers (NCSI) announced his new replacement is Buz Minor, a long-time Executive Committee member and NCSI supporter. Buz is a retired partner in the Vorys Columbus, Ohio office and was a member of the labor and employment law group. He devoted the majority of his practice to matters involving occupational safety and health and disability management. Buz is the Executive Secretary of the Ohio Self-Insurers Association and his career highlights include serving as President of the National Council of Self-Insurers from 2013 to 2015 and representing and advising major employers nationally in matters involving occupational safety and health and disability management.  Buz will be assisted by the association management team at Smith Moore and Associates.

The ISIA wishes Phil well in his retirement, and offers a hearty congratulations to Buz.

Also, the NCSI announced that John Smolk is taking over as President of the Association. John is a self-insured employer member representative from Southern California Edison. John is a Principal Manager of Workers' Compensation for SCE and also serves as a Trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee for the California Self-Insurers' Security Fund.

Stepping into the role of Vice President is Kris Tefft. Kris is the Executive Director of the Washington Self-Insurers' Association and has been an active member of the NCSI Executive Committee for six years serving as the Secretary Treasurer for the past two years.

 Denise Evans, of Staffmark, will serve as Secretary Treasurer. Denise has been a self-insured employer member of the Executive Committee and an active member of the NCSI Board of Managers for many years.
