Illinois Self-Insurers’ Association Conflict of Interest Statement
The standard of behavior at the Illinois Self-Insurers’ Association (“ISIA” or “the Association”) is that all of its Board Members and Executive Officers scrupulously avoid conflicts of interest between the interests of the Association on one hand, and personal, professional, and business interests on the other. This includes avoiding potential and actual conflicts of interest, as well as perceptions of conflicts of interest.
The Board recognizes and accepts the actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest between the positions board members, staff and contracted staff have with the ISIA and their employer.
The ISIA does not collect, request, store, or distribute any data related to the workers’ compensation claim and/or loss experience of any of its members. There is absolutely no expectation, actual or implied, for any members or former members of the ISIA to share any specific data related to a member’s workers’ compensation loss experience or history. The ISIA does not encourage discussion of specific data, policies, or other proprietary information of a member’s workers’ compensation program or loss experience.
In the event a member provides data or information specific to a member’s program or loss experience, the ISIA will keep that information confidential, unless the member instructs otherwise. Under no circumstances will the ISIA disseminate or distribute any data or information concerning a member’s workers’ compensation loss experience, unless expressly requested to do so by the member or former member.
To protect the integrity of the ISIA’s decision-making process, and to enable our membership and constituencies to have confidence in our integrity, the ISIA’s Board and Executive Officers (upon election or appointment) shall make a full written disclosure of interests, relationships and holdings that could result in conflicts of interest. The Board of Directors will review each conflict that is disclosed and take any action they deem necessary. This written disclosure will be kept on file and be updated as appropriate.
The ISIA understands that this policy is meant to supplement good judgment, and all Board Members will respect its spirit as well as its wording.
